The Spring/Summer 2015 Los Angeles International Textile Show (LA TEXTILE) will take place from Monday-Wednesday, March 10-12, 2014 at the California Market Center (CMC) on 9th and Main Street in downtown Los Angeles. Hosted in the Penthouse, on the 13th floor, show hours are from 9:00am-5:00pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 9:00am-4:00pm on Wednesday. Highlights include a steady number of domestic exhibitors, as well as an increasing presence of mills from areas around the world, such as India and Turkey.
International collections present at the Show aesthetically reflect the Spring and Summer seasons for buyers and designers who are looking for remarkable textile creativity. John Marshall, the West Coast Representative for PINX, a mill from India that creates hand-beaded, ornate textiles, affirms that the uniqueness of international exhibitors sets them apart from others. “The PINX collection offers a variety of product for several markets, such as bridal, women’s evening wear, contemporary brands as well as costume designers, etc,” says Marshall. “Their uniqueness is the ability to customize with a wide array of designs, color combinations and styles blended with the most recent market trends. I consider them a trendsetter and innovator with brilliant techniques.”
In addition to PINX, other impressive exhibitors from India include AP Fashions, Candid Enterprise, Eirene Business Solutions, Mauela Apparel, Sofiatex, and Vinayak. There is also a stronger presence of mills from Turkey than in past shows, some of which include Acton, Almodo, BCN Textile, Confetti, and Sunteks.
Marshall also mentions that the Show provides international exhibitors, like PINX, the opportunity to “realize that with the ever changing global economy, their presence [at LA TEXTILE] is essential to compete with the supply and demand of the West Coast designers to offer unique and customized articles.”
The specialty, artisan quality textiles created by international mills are some of the main resources at the Show. “Higher end fabrics by exhibitors from abroad are specifically sought out by the contemporary designers who attend the show,” states Oscar Ben Rodriguez, Senior Trade Show Manager of LA TEXTILE. “We are offering an increasing variety of fabrics from all across the globe, which encompass the entire spectrum of price points. This mix of resources is what makes the LA TEXTILE Show the premiere destination for textile, design, and production.”
In addition to the debut of new international resources, LA TEXTILE will continue to partner with Lenzing and feature the Lenzing Innovation Pavilion located in the A-wing of the Penthouse. Just a few of the notable exhibitors include Buhler Quality Yarns, Design Knit, Inc., Texollini, Inc., Tuscarora Yarns, and, for the first time, Alamac American Knits. Lenzing will also co-host, with LA TEXTILE, an Opening Night Reception for all attendees, which features complimentary hors d'oeuvres, organic wine provided by Frey Vineyards, and live music from DJ Lead One. Open to attendees and exhibitors, the reception is scheduled from 5:00pm-7:00pm, Monday, March 10 in the LA TEXTILE Lounge located in Penthouse #19.
